BIG ROOF AND KOTATSU

Partners: Maya Adachi, Kei Takanami
Location: Competition

The waterfront park of Onagawa is in need of a space to relax by the sea, a roof to protect from the rain and wind, and a slight "twist" to bring excitement. Two square cabins are generated to provide a space for visitors to work, study, or pursue their hobbies alone. Sliding partitions allow these two cabins to be combined diagonally so that three or four people can stay comfortably in one large room. The large roof, rotated 45 degrees, also creates semi-outdoor spaces attached to the individual cabins, inviting visitors to occupy the gravel patch where the cabins are situated.
